Why So Quiet?
Zahir and the boss have me traveling. Something unpleasant happened at the house. I am visiting some of the active out of country construction sites and going over designs and precision measurements.
A threat was made, but I am safe. On the upside, I am doing some writing
---Yes, I have a bodyguard with me.
For the second time in three years I'm traveling without Zahir. He was
needed back in Iran. Something to do with the earthquake at a
construction site.
Not going to lie, I am very afraid.
Baba and the family promise things will be sorted by the wedding date. They think they know who was behind it. I am told this is only temporary...
I'm starting to think my friends back in the states were right. Maybe I have been making too much noise here. But, graffiti can be painted over, and a guard dog can be replaced. Yes, someone killed one of my babies, not Kaeleb but one of his brothers.
Chase
On a positive. I passed! I will be at commencement!
ReplyDeleteMore important, Zahir and I are still getting married!
Must go to sleep. Examining a build site in six hours.
ReplyDeleteOh boy.. reading this with a lump in my throat. I hope everybody is ok. Please be careful and safe!
ReplyDeleteI am safe. My world right now is job sites and hotel rooms. Occasionally eating with a local host or build team member from the home company (if Betey says they are ok). I am safe and being more careful.
DeleteShrink and I are doing video sesions. Baba and Zahir talk to me several time a day the same way. Mama is missing her garden and kitchen partner.
I am finding light where I can. I found a great gift for Zahir for the wedding.
Full disclosure...
DeleteZahir is driving me nuts! He is texting every 10-15 minutes. At least he is using the secure lines. I love how crazy he is about knowing I am safe, but this was his/their idea after all.
I miss him so much but it is hard to focus on the numbers when he puts the wrong kind of wiggle in my pants. Yes, the phone is on vibrate. Z texted the field lead when I blew off what I thought were two of his texts.
Got a giggle out of Ahmad followed by, "Chris, check phone..." 17 texts from him and the Amman office. "Not good to ignore the boss. Either of them." I look like such a kid every two seconds.
I am back home. The graffiti on the outer wall was done by a younger former employee. He confessed to tagging our wall as a joke. His excuse for killing my dog however was sad and inexcusable.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to know I am safe. I even have been out for walks with family and security. I have been getting hugs and love from the neighbors.
Thinking of you! I am happy to hear you are getting better. Thanks for all the love. [hugs you] :)
