I got a little annoyed with my grandmother during our weekly chat. She asked the question, "Did getting raped 'make you gay?'" Don't judge her too harshly. That is not as weird a question as you'd think. I have even received it from a few of my readers.
So let's look at the elephant in the room. Being gay is just a state of being, not a result action. Just as BEING gay doesn't make you a rapist/predator. I know a lot of rape victims who are straight. Having gay or straight sex acts forced on you doesn't change your identity. other than making you a "victim." I hate the word victim, I am a survivor/VICTOR, Chase Triumphant.
The evidence on homosexuality is out: it is not a choice. It is rooted in biology; it is not a result of “upbringing”, “socialization”, or sexual molestation as a child. People who act on the belief that it is, very often end up doing great harm, wittingly or not. This is the outcome of a huge report recently published by the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf).
I knew I was gay long before I was raped. I would argue hiding the fact I was gay probably made me MORE vulnerable.
